Propreco has developed a senior housing community in collaboration with Gråkjær in the center of Albertslund and only 15 km west of central Copenhagen. This residential project consists of 56 new apartments with spacial qualities and a common house that gives the residents opportunities for joint activities, dinners et cetera.

‘The barn’ is a term for the communal building that has an unheated workshop, kitchen in the open air and a covered fire pit. The barn is a flexible unit that transforms with the season and the interest of the community. This transformation occurs architecturally via sliding doors, covers and setting up sails.

There is a special focus on community, culture and the green town, in which 60 percent of Albertslund is covered by forest and green areas. The senior residences are built with inspiration from the green surroundings that form the framework for nature and outdoor life as an integral part of everyday life.
